Missouri Arts Council Grants
- Each month, the Missouri Arts Council awards small grants in seven different categories. The basic monthly strategic grant funds small arts projects, while the arts education grant supports schools, communities and artists in residence. MAC's capacity building grant helps nonprofits expand their cultural reach while the minority arts grant funds art projects from African-American, Asian-American, Latino and Native American artists. A touring grant helps bring touring artists to local communities. As of 2011, the monthly strategic grant amounts ranged from $2,000 to $5,000.
- MAC breaks its annual strategic grants into eight categories. As of 2011, arts education grants fund schools and artists in residence with a $10,000 award while community arts grants range from $20,000 to $30,000. Folk art grants for traditional arts and discipline grants for ongoing arts projects are worth $30,000 for Missouri nonprofits. Mid-sized arts organizations are eligible for $50,000 grants. At the top tier, established arts institutions -- organizations with annual budgets of $2 million or more -- may apply for $300,000 MAC grants.
- Grants from the Missouri Arts Council cater to projects accessible to the public. The council's grants often fund educational endeavors such as school programs, artist residencies and literary publications. MAC grants also fund events such as theater, music and dance performances, arts festivals, film festivals and exhibitions. Media arts projects and film productions are eligible for funding as well.
- Only Missouri-based nonprofit organizations may apply for grants from the Missouri Arts Council. Applicants must create a profile at MAC's official website and complete online applications. MAC often requests visual support materials to accompany online application forms. Monthly strategic grant applications are due on the first Monday of each month. Yearly strategic grant deadlines depend on when the proposed project is set to occur.
