Can V CAST Be Run on a Mac?
- Verizon's V CAST is available for users with Mac computers, as well as those with Windows and Linux computers that meet specifications. However, only Mac computers with the Intel processor are compatible with V CAST. If you have any other type of processor, your Mac computer will not work with V CAST.
- To run the V CAST Media Manager, a Mac with an Intel processor must have at least 100 megabytes of hard disk space and 256 megabytes of RAM. You'll also need to be running Mac OS X 10.5 or more, and have QuickTime 6 or higher installed.
- To make sure your Mac's specs are sufficient to run the Media Manager, click on the "Apple" icon at the top left of your monitor, then click on "About this Mac." You'll see the processor, memory, and OS version listed in the pop-up window that appears. Click on "More Info," and then click "Applications" from the left menu. Look for "QuickTime Player." You'll see the version you have installed listed in the information about the application.
- Once you've determined that your Mac can load and run the V CAST Media Manager, you can download it from the V CAST site. Navigate to the V CAST Media Manager site (http://products.verizonwireless.com/) and click on "Click to Download Desktop App." Click through the permission screens, and follow the instructions to download the V CAST Media Manager to your computer. Once it appears on your desktop, drag it into your Mac's Applications folder, and follow the prompts to load it.
