• 1). Click "Start" in the taskbar, then choose the "Control Panel" option.
  
  
• 2). Double-click the "System" icon.
  
  
• 3). Click on the "Automatic Updates" tab positioned at the top of the window.
  
  
• 4). Click the "Turn off Automatic Updates" option. Then, click "Apply" and "OK" at the bottom of the window.
  
  

Windows Vista and Windows 7

• 1). Click the "Start" button in the taskbar.
  
  
• 2). Highlight and click the "All Programs" option. Numerous options will appear.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Windows Update" option.
  
  
• 4). Click "Change Settings" on the left side of the open window.
  
  
• 5). Click the drop-down box in the middle of the window and select "Never check for updates." Then, click "OK" at the bottom of the window.
