SCIATIC/BACK PAIN: THE SEARCH FOR PERMANENT RELIEF

105 3
CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS OF SCIATIC PAIN

Sciatica is pain running down your leg in a pattern determined by the sciatic nerve. The pain

often starts in the low back - (due to a herniated disc) - or in the buttock - (due to

piriformis syndrome) - and extends as far as your toes. It can be accompanied by numbness,

'pins and needles' ("paresthesias") or, in more severe cases, actual weakness affecting the

ankle or toes may accompany the sciatica.
Sciatica is a form of pain that is called a "radiculopathy" in medical terminology. This

means that it often follows the path of a single spinal nerve root such as the Lumbar 5 (L5)

or Sacral 1 (S1). This is often the case when sciatica is due to a "herniated disc" or

"bulging disc". If the cause is in the lumbar spine, the sciatica - or leg pain - is often

accompanied by back pain.
Sometimes this associated back pain, by itself, can be mistaken for normal back-muscle

strain, and treated for as such, unless a CT scan or MRI scan is taken to determine if the

pain is related to the spine, in particular a herniated/bulging disc and therefore persists

and worsens.

LIVING WITH CHRONIC BACK PAIN!

Life with back pain is extremely frustrating and disheartening. You wake up every day after a

restless night of sleep, only to once again endure the constant aching in your back.

Some days it may hurt less then others, and you may be tempted to go outside and do some of

the things you love, like playing with your children or grand children, your favourite

sporting activity, workshop projects, but you know that you will "pay the price" for it

later... so you stay inside.

Worst of all is that staying in bed and resting only makes the pain worse. It's a vicious

cycle that robs you of your life and leaves you locked inside your own house in pain and even

alienate you from friends and family outings.

UNSUCCESSFUL TREATMENTS... HOW DOES "YOUR" DOCTOR RATE?

Maybe you have even seen a physical therapist or chiropractor, had steroid needles inserted

in your back, been prescribed anti-deprssant and epileptic drugs by a "specialist". The

relief gained from the treatments these people typically offer is only temporary, and the

pain will just keep coming back. This is because the source of the pain still remains elusive

and untreated and could possibly even worsen over time.

You might even be wondering...

"Will I Ever Get Rid Of My Sciatica/Back Pain without the need for complicated, and

sometimes risky, surgery?"

In short, the answer to this complicated question is YES.

YOUR BACK PAIN "IS" TREATABLE!

Even though your search for a successful treatment may seem fruitless, there may be one place

you haven't looked that could end your search and give you fast and permanent relief from

this crippling ailment so you can return to a normal healthy lifestyle and free yourself from

the stress and depression which can accompany a long term condition.
