No matter what post you hold in a company but if you happen to be in HR department you are doomed. I am in a similar position with one of the leading domestic BPO. If it hadn't be recruitment management software I would have surely resigned from the company. It all started when I joined the firm as a HR manager recruiter. HR people act as a mediator between employees and management. They have to keep both parties happy. It's like working as a diplomat. You need to understand both parties and make them feel that they are understood. The decision taken after this should be such that both parties are happy. It is very demanding task working in a HR department.
I had many years of experience in HR recruiting. I started working in a consultancy and later started climbing the ladder. Currently I am working as senior manager HR recruiting. The title sounds great to anyone who hears it but the work as Recruitment guy we do only fellow recruiters know the fact. There is never a day off or any free time. We have to constantly help other departments with their sourcing needs. This also differs from company to company. If you come across any manufacturing unit there is hardly any attrition but when you see IT industries the attrition rate is very high. As luck wasn't my way I was in to Call centre where the attrition rate are always very high which meant we had to source more employees. My profile was to allocate all available resources to my juniors. They would then call the prospective candidate and source them for interviews if selected. Our company didn't use any software for maintaining the list of candidate. We used excel to save and check the data.
The problem while managing the recruitment process which I faced was managing all data using excel. Firstly it was a tedious job to assign each subordinates an excel after short listing the sheet. Secondly and the most important factor was the duplication issue. We found there were many candidates whose name was saved in excel more than twice. It happened we kept calling the same candidate again and again. Also the same list is shared real time which meant any loss of data there we needed to pull out the last saved sheet. It increased our time to source employees. It was after my pressurization company management agreed to purchase recruitment management software for this purpose. The software helped us in a great deal. Now every records is updated in the software which makes sure there are no duplicates. This software helps us getting information about any employee's whose data is already fed in to the system. We could easily track their record as when they were interviewed and are they shortlisted?
Now because of this software I could seriously look in to other HR matters. I am very thankful to Panoramic group who developed this software for such purposes. If we didn't have such software then life in a HR department would have been pathetic.
