How to Remove a Sink Valve
- 1). Twist the appropriate water supply line valve below the sink in a clockwise direction to shut the water off. If replacing the hot water valve, turn the hot water supply line valve off. Turn the cold water supply line off if replacing the cold water valve.
- 2). Remove the screw from the top of the valve handle with a screwdriver.
- 3). Lift the handle from the valve to expose the packing nut that surrounds the top of the sink valve.
- 4). Unscrew the sink valve with water-pump pliers by rotating the packing nut at the base of the valve in a counterclockwise direction until the valve detaches from the sink.
