Video: How to Make a Purple Mojito
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Jordan Catapano, and I'm going to show you how to make a purple mojito. Let's start with two ounces of Don Q white rum. Followed by half an ounce of a simple syrup. And before I add the creme de violet, I'm going to start to muddle the mint in here. So about a quarter of a cup of fresh mint. Now I'm going to add the lime. Usually about an ounce of lime juice that you get from a lime depending on how juicy the fruit is. All right one more. Perfect. Now comes the muddling. Keep going until you've broken up all those mint pieces so the flavor really releases in to the rum, sugar and lime mixture. All right there we have it. Now I'm going to get my glass ready because I want to put a sugar rim around it. So I'll take one of these used limes and kiss the rim with my lime so it's a little bit sticky. Put it in the sugar and I'll transfer my ice in to the glass now so it doesn't knock off so much sugar. I'm going to strain this mixture in to the glass. You can certainly just pour it right in if you don't mind mint leaves being in it. I don't love the mint leaves in it because then it gets stuck to the bottom of my straw, it gets stuck in my teeth. So this way you have all the essence, all the flavor without the mint leaves and we can add them in later. There we go make sure we've got all the moisture out. Now for the fun part. The purple part. Going to use an ounce of this. Creme de violet. Look at that beautiful drink. You want to make it a deeper purple just add a little bit more. It's looking a little violet now. Nice two tones there. And let's just garnish it with some fresh mint leaves and a slice or two of lime. All right here we have a beautiful drink. It's time to try it. It looks delicious. And it is. It's amazing. A purple mojito who knew this could be so good. I'm Jordan Catapano with BevMo. Enjoy.
