    • 1). Load the "Linksys Setup CD" into your computer's optical drive. If the setup program does not run automatically, go to "My Computer" and double-click your optical drive's icon to run it manually. Wait for the welcome screen to appear and click the "Click Here to Start" button.

    • 2). Read and agree to the "Linksys Software License Agreement" on the subsequent page. You will then be prompted to plug the USB adapter into an open USB port on your computer. Do so and click "Next." Wait for the software to search for nearby networks.

    • 3). Click "Connect" to continue to the first configuration screen for your adapter. Select "Obtain a network settings automatically (DHCP)" if you are unsure of how to enter settings manually. Click "Next."

    • 4). Choose the appropriate option from the "Wireless Mode" window and enter the name or SSID of your network in the text box. Click "Next."

    • 5). Set up the WEP key settings on the security page. If using WPA on your router, or if you would prefer to leave your connection unsecured, leave the settings as "Disabled" and click "Next."

    • 6). Confirm that all of the settings you entered are correct and click the "Save" button. Allow the program to complete setup and you will see a "Congratulations" message. Click the "Connect to Network" button and start surfing the web.
