How to Bypass Activation if My iPhone Will Not Read a SIM Card
- 1). Press the "Eject" button next to the iPhone's name in the left sidebar of iTunes if you're in the middle of the activation process. Disconnect the iPhone's USB cord first from the computer and then from the iPhone.
- 2). Remove the SIM card from the iPhone if you made an unsuccessful attempt to activate the device with a non-AT&T SIM card, such as if you unlocked the device and were trying to use it on another carrier. Power off the iPhone, and then unfold a paperclip and push its sharp end into the hole beside the SIM tray, located on top of the iPhone 3G and 3Gs and on the right side of the iPhone 4. Remove the SIM and replace it with the original SIM, and then replace the SIM tray and power the iPhone on.
- 3). Use any iPhone application that doesn't require the Internet at any time. To use Internet applications, tap the "Settings" button, and then tap "Wi-Fi" and tap the name of any nearby network whose password you have or, alternatively, a network that doesn't require a password.
