    • 1). Download jailbreaking software. "Redsn0w," "Ultrasn0w" and "PwnageTool" are all available to download for free online (see Resources).

    • 2). Download the "IPSW" file that corresponds with the iPhone. Download the IPSW file that matches the iPhone from an IPSW file downloading site (see References.) There are different IPSW files for iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 users.

    • 3). Connect the iPhone to the computer. Open the jailbreaking software. Load the IPSW file and follow the on screen instructions. Jailbreaking is surprisingly simple and the on screen instructions in the jailbreaking software are very easy to follow.

    • 4). Change the keypad. After the jailbreak finishes there will be a program called "Cydia" on the springboard. Click on it. Click on "Search." Type in "Blackberry" and click "Search." A list of Blackberry related modifications will appear. Select the "BlackBerry Storm Keyboard" by clicking on it. Click "Install." This keyboard will now be installed. This will be the default keypad for the iPhone. To revert back to the standard iPhone keyboard, simply follow this step again and click "Uninstall."
