Natural Migraine Relief - Relief Without Medication

Is it possible to find natural migraine relief? What I mean by that is, can you live with the condition without having to resort to prescription medications? I personally believe that it is possible, but I have to put my cards on the table. There are two things you should know before reading on.

  1. I have a strong preference to avoid taking any medication if there is an alternative I can try

  2. My own migraines have tended to be relatively mild and infrequent

I know that many people have it a lot worse than I do. Some people get migraines on an almost weekly basis and their symptoms are extreme and debilitating.

If that is you, I feel for you and I can well understand that your attitude to taking medication is likely to be very different than mine. I have had a few of these more severe attacks.

I know what it is like to be unable to function for a couple of days, with the pain prodding the back of my eyes and spots of light blurring my vision. Not wanting to move because it causes new waves of nausea.

If I felt this bad on a regular basis, I would probably happily consider the drug option. But I would still want to also consider every other alternative.

I would particularly want to avoid a preventative program involving daily use of medication over long periods of time. I do understand though, that for some people, this seems like the only way to manage the condition.

On the rare occasions when the pain has been extreme and I have resorted to normal pain killers, such as Ibuprofen, I have found them to have little effect.

I feel that I have benefited more from easy changes to lifestyle and diet, as well as monitoring myself and noticing some of my own triggers for migraine attacks an taking steps to avoid them.

I believe that it is worthwhile researching natural migraine relief methods, even if it only reduces your use of medication. And of course it is always advisable to consult your doctor before discontinuing prescribed medication.

I have much more information on my website about the different types of migraine, how they can be diagnosed and the treatment options available.
