How to Drill a Hole in Cement

    • 1). Mark the cement with a small piece of masking tape where the hole will be drilled. Attach the small masonry bit to the drill. Set the drill's clutch to the highest setting --- or the highest torque setting for some drills.

    • 2). Place a piece of masking tape onto the drill bit/drill up to the desired depth of the hole. Point the drill bit onto the masking tape on the cement. Squeeze the trigger of the drill completely. Press the drill down onto the cement with very little pressure.

    • 3). Keep the drill steady and facing down. Apply more pressure to the drill in small increments until the drill has sunken all the way down to the masking tape on the drill. Pull the drill out. Remove the small bit, and replace with the larger masonry bit.

    • 4). Place the larger bit onto the existing hole. Compress the trigger once more. Slowly and lightly press down onto the drill until the drill is digging into the cement. Stop the drill when the drill has reached the bottom of the hole. Remove the drill.
