How to Paint the Ocean and Sky With Acrylic Colors
- 1). Pour equal amount of dark blue, light blue and white paint into separate containers.
- 2). Dip a large paintbrush into the dark blue paint and paint the bottom one-third of the piece of art paper or canvas with solid color. This creates the water, and the top water line should be nearly straight, with a few dips in random places.
- 3). Dip a large paintbrush into the light blue paint and paint the remaining two-thirds of the page to create the sky.
- 4). Wait for the paint to dry completely. Acrylics have a fast drying time and this should only take about a half hour; refer to the instructions on the paint to be sure.
- 5). Dip a small paintbrush into the white paint and paint a cloud in the sky by making a long, slightly wavy line, make a line upwards on both sides to make short side lines, and then draw a curvier line spanning across the top. This creates the outline of a single cloud. Fill the center of the cloud in with additional white paint and repeat to create as many clouds as desired.
- 6). Paint a few short, squiggly lines in random places across the bottom section to create ripples in the water.
