The Baby and The Bath Water

Both Republicans and Democrats have led us down the bramble bush road.
The political elites care not for the will of the people.
Think about it, how can politicians declare themselves intelligent and caring when they put our nation in such peril? Thirteen trillion dollars in unsustainable debt...
are you kidding? One of the largest attack arguments being peddled by the socialists' interests infiltrating our government these days is the evil of Capitalism and the Free Market system.
When you have human eggplants like Michael Moore making millions on movies that attack the very system he is feeding off of, someone has to step up and make a case for truth, justice, and the American way.
Everything that is wrong with Capitalism and the Free Market system threads back to bad governing.
We no longer have a Free Market system.
Our system of production is highly manipulated and regulated by those with political agendas.
In fact, we swing so far to extremes that we experience extraordinary wastefulness that wouldn't happen in the private sector.
This is our money they are wasting, not theirs, but politicians are convinced to the contrary.
The system of graduated taxation is a classic example of political social manipulation.
Why do you think both sides are opposed to a Fair Tax System? Could it be they would lose a great leverage tool for controlling you, the unwashed masses? It is interesting to note how Wall Street becomes the vilified target of our financial difficulties.
Wall Street contributes heavily to both sides, so they can do what they do with relative impunity.
They do not produce; they manipulate just like the government, that's why they are so comfortable with one another.
The truth is Wall Street is not Red, White, or Blue...
it's green.
Consequently, it becomes the target of greater or lesser regulation depending on which team needs to cover it's own backsides because of bad governing decisions.
The truth is large corporations and Wall Street interests should be held to an ethical standard by the over-site committees already in place in Congress.
So, "how come you ask", do we suffer from such financial deception and collapse? Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, AIG, and Goldman Sachs would not have enabled our destruction had it not been for corrupt governing.
The larger the economic interests, the greater the need for honest competent over site, and we have none.
Yet even when the scoundrels are found out, We The Victims do little or nothing to change it.
This brings us to a big change required to save the Republic and that is campaign donation reform.
In fact campaign expenditures should be controlled as well.
What is American exceptionalism? It is not social justice.
We had slavery and bigotry and that is nothing to be proud of.
Yet in my lifetime I have seen more fairness and acceptance of peoples than in any other time in our history.
No, being socially perfect is not our claim to fame, but we are working on it.
Our exceptionalism comes by a great degree from our liberty.
That liberty sparks the creative genius that has made America the last great Super Power.
Take that spark away and you will surely be plunged into darkness.
The ability to produce unfettered by overwhelming government regulatory intrusion is what allows us to be great.
Individuals like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Henry Ford, and so on...
that's who we are.
The small and medium start up business is the heart and soul of America.
Seventy percent of the jobs are created from that sector, and yet it is constantly under attack by the political elites.
They blame corporations for actions they are empowered to monitor, and penalize all industry at the expense of the working population that supports them.
They promote plans for American Industry without having a clue how industry works.
What do we expect from a bunch of lawyers? Term limitations on Congress are essential to help limit corruption as well as electing representatives from a greater array of experience.
Eighty-five percent of Congress is filled with Lawyers.
How about posting a sign over the entrance that states "Lawyers Need Not Apply"? If we need one we'll hire out.
Then use our currently wasted resources to bring about real change we can believe in.
If we structured grants to high end institutions like MIT, and Cal Tech, ear marked for research in specific areas like making clean coal, or alternative fuels, or alternative cost effective energy sources, and offered to pay the tuition for those who participate, and give the Universities the patent rights to sell to private industry to develop, we will have taken a step in right direction for positive motivation, which is what made us great.
Instead of regulating us into change, why not positively motivate us into change? Instead of forcing change through penalty, why not guide us to change through incentives? If you want cleaner air, then don't drive your dirty industry off to Mexico, India, and China where they don't give a damn about clean air.
We live on a sphere with winds that circumnavigate the planet so moving filth is counterproductive, unless your motivation is global redistribution of wealth and not climate change.
Gee, ya think? Exactly, whose wealth is being redistributed? Yours? Gosh, how about that? If you are of modest income, how long do you think you can count on government assistance if they are sending your nation's wealth to other countries? Think about it.
Unfortunately, we do things backwards.
We insist on the public being the responsible party when the government set the opposite example.
Keeping batteries and electronics out of landfills should be handled by a separate recycling container, not a plea to drive to some obscure location and pay to have them environmentally secured as they do in California.
On the one hand they call us stupid, and on the other hand they expect us to be responsible, but not too responsible or that might adversely affect the victim status and the trial lawyer's income.
Heaven forbid that we take real responsibility for our actions like who we elect and for what reasons.
There is a lot we can do to make our system better.
Destroying the parts that have elevated us to World Prominence is not one of them.
Greed is a human condition.
It is not politically exclusive.
Men/Women of character are hard to find, and D.
C.
is destined to corrupt.
Mr.
Smith Goes to Washington is a timeless reminder of how power corrupts.
Why would anybody in their right mind allow politicians to decide their fate? If I can be so bold let me offer the insight of 60+ years.
The only war in my lifetime in which the Federal Government supported our troops as completely as they deserved was Desert Storm.
Our blood being spilled because of political folly between the Executive and Legislative branches of the government is completely unacceptable.
I would excoriate our political leaders for their lack of commitment anytime our military is put in harms way without resolve.
Whether we lean liberal or conservative, we are Americans first and foremost.
Let's debate openly, and to hell with political correctness, for it is a control mechanism that could lead to our destruction.
We should argue amongst ourselves without fear of reprisal because it is through passionate discourse that we learn, grow, and rise to our potential, which is limitless if allowed to prosper.
One final thought to Bill Maher...
Contrary to your thoughtless rhetoric, we Americans are not too stupid to rule ourselves.
