Emotional Level of Poker Donkeys

This article is to be used as a tool to describe the emotions going on in the mind of a "Donk.
" Anyone familiar with Texas hold em has heard the name Donkey.
This term is used to describe a player that exudes unusually bad play, isn't familiar with the rules, doesn't have a sound strategy, and so on.
Now with that being said, sometimes Donkeys win.
Poker is definitely a game of skill, however there are times when the cards fall as they may, and the sun shines on a Donkey's butt.
When this happens, "What is going on in the mind of a Donk?" Through a survey of 5 new players and also extensive experience grinding the waters of low level no limit games, I have the answer.
First of all, the Donkey feels an euphoric feeling as if he is the Poker King.
There is nothing like stealing a pot to the Donkey.
He is used to losing and is elated when he wins.
Secondly, if he wins, he feels that he played good poker.
That is so far from the truth.
A win DOES NOT constitute playing good poker.
Fact, a Donkey will lose everything that he just won relatively soon.
Why, because he is on an emotional high that leads him to believe that poker is a game of chance and since he hit once then he can hit again.
This false sense of security isn't really plausible because the Donkey rarely wins.
However, his emotions will be his downfall, and the good players gain.
Usually, the Donkey will start to play a wide variety of hands and whittle down his bankroll or chips.
Whenever a Donkey is spotted at the table, usually by his loose play, good players are more happy to play with him.
Some might even want him to steal a pot.
It triggers an emotional reaction that say's "Maybe today is my day.
" Unlikely, since poker, especially no limit Holdem, is a game of patience, skill, and calculated moves.
Not a loose assortment of hands that anyone can get lucky with.
It is true, most new No limit Holdem players are Donkeys.
I was.
It's not difficult to leave the Donkey stage behind by learning basic strategy, learning the terminology, watching hands, and playing.
The emotional donkey can turn into an eagle.
If he chooses.
