How to Use Palm Pre Stand Alone GPS
- 1). Access the Palm Pre's Location Services Application. Tap the center of the device's "Gesture area" to open the card view. In the blank space provided, type in "Location Services." The application's icon will appear in the search results screen. Using your finger, tap directly on the icon to open it.
- 2). Complete preliminary setup of Locations Services. Prior to first use of the application, you will be asked to review and and accept the terms of use and if you want to allow anonymous data collection. Tap "Next" to access the terms and conditions. Tap the check mark besides "Allow Anonymous Data Collection" to select it. Click "Agree" at the bottom of the screen to continue. In the next screen, tap Auto Locate "On" to allow applications to automatically identify your location using GPS.
- 3). Access an application that uses GPS features. The Palm Pre comes with the Google Maps application pre-installed, which provides driving directions according to your GPS location. Open Google Maps or any user-installed third-party application using the card view method explained in Step 1. Once inside the application, access the menu by clicking in the top left corner of the application. Tap on the section titled "Display my Location" or something similar to view your GPS location on the map.
