Learn to type for kids, who wants to give their kid the best chance they can in the new global digital economy?  Want do you think it will mean if they can speed type at 50 words per minute or more, while looking at the screen, compared to typing at about 15 words per minute, while constantly looking at the keyboard? The difference is enormous.
As far as speed is concerned, it is like comparing a thoroughbred racehorse with a donkey.
Teaching your kids to touch type now, will give them the invaluable skills for the future.
They will be able to thrive in the digital age rather than drowning in it.
Learn to type for kids, which is the easiest and most effective way to do this? 1.
Get a good piece of typing software
Typing software is the easiest way to learn.
Good software has inbuilt systems which tailor programs to the individual.
They will pick up individual weaknesses and then give specific exercises to strengthen this weakness.
It doesn't need to be software specific to kids.
Kids learn perfectly well using the same software that adults use.
Typing software will also keep track of their progress, so that you can see how they are improving over time.
This really helps with motivation and getting results.
A good program will also incorporate games which are great for keeping kids interested.
2.
Set up regular short practice sessions
Typing practice should become like homework in the early stages.
If possible it should be done every school night.
It is better to have regular sessions which are short and sweet rather than long infrequent sessions.
Lessons should be no longer than 30 minutes, but even a 10 minute lesson is better than no lesson.

Make sure there is adult supervision for kids below 12 years of age
This is very important.
The main reason it is important, is because you want to make sure that they are using the correct fingers for the right keys.
You also want to make sure that they are looking at the computer screen and not the keyboard.
4.
Once they have got the most elementary skills, get them to type their homework
The sooner you get them typing in everyday life the better.
A great way to force them to type on a regular basis, is to get them to type their homework.
A good piece of software will still be able to monitor their typing in the background and give them good feedback and extra lessons.
5.
Incorporate typing games
Kids love games.
It can make learning to type really fun.
If you are able to make it fun for them, then they will be more likely to keep going with it, until it is second nature.
Most software will have inbuilt games.
6.
Be disciplined until touch typing comes naturally to them
You must keep them doing their practice regularly, until they are able to touch type faster than they can type with the old look at the keyboard method.
Once they are able to do this, then they will favor the touch typing method and use it for the rest of their lives.
If you follow these steps then your kids will succeed.
It is the best thing you could do for them.
