How to Freshen Air Without an Air Freshener
- 1). Locate the source of the unpleasant aroma. This can be tricky, as the source is often hard to find, but this is obviously the most effective way of ridding a house of a bad smell.
- 2). Open windows. Often the weather or climate--or an outside odor--doesn't allow this, but where it is possible, fresh outside air can act as a filter for the air in your own home.
- 3). Dip your finger in the essential oil of your choice, then dab it onto a light bulb, or many light bulbs, in the room you want to freshen up. When the lights are turned on, the room--and adjoining rooms and hallways--will be filled with the pleasant scent of the essential oil.
- 4). Put a handful of juniper, rosemary, or sage in a glass bowl, then burn the juniper, rosemary or sage. The scent will be pleasant--and additionally act as an antiseptic for the air in your house.
- 5). Fill your home with plants. Plants act as a natural air cleaner. This writer recommends chrysanthemum, which removes many toxic substances from the air.
