If you want to have the best wedding speech that you can deliver, it would be easier if you draft a script so that you would know what to say and how to say it in front of the reception audience.
If you do not know how to write a script for your speech, this is the right article for you.
Here are some of the tips you need to remember while making a script for your wedding speech.
The Draft
  • While making a wedding speech script, you have to treat the wedding reception as a movie scene.
Lay out all your dialogues, as you would say it in front of the bride and groom.
You must also include the audience as well.
  • If you are acting as the best man, your speech requires comedy.
If you have this role, your script should be groom centric and filled with funny jokes.
If you do this speech at the bridesmaid, then this is a more emotional type of speech.
The tone of your script will depend on your role during the occasion itself.
  • After determining your tone, you can proceed writing the script.
In writing the wedding speech script, you should remember to do it in a dialogue format.
    Here is an example:
"Good evening everybody.
I'm so glad to be here tonight.
Before anything else, let me introduce myself.
I am (your name).
I have been a friend with (bride/groom's name) ever since we were in high school.
"
  • For continuing your script, remember the different parts of the wedding speech, the beginning, the body and the end or wedding toast.
You also have to include the key points in your speech that requires audience participation.
You have to highlight the points where the audience reaction is required so that you would not get lost in your speech.
Here is another example: "I remember the time when (state a memorable moment of your friendship with the groom or bride).
He/she looked so funny wearing that (description).
(Audience laughter)" Remember that this is your wedding speech script.
Therefore, you can also write your reactions and highlight certain points where you need to pause and give acknowledgment to those in the reception area.
At this point, you may think about that people who invited you and allowed you to be a part of the momentous occasion.
The Last Words During the last part of your wedding speech script, do not forget to give the wedding toast.
A wedding toast should go something like this: "To the bride and groom, may your marriage be blessed with much happiness and joy throughout your life together.
" Remember that a wedding toast needs not to be long.
The shorter you make it, the better it would be for the occasion.
