Certainly, needs and preferences differ from mom to mom but the basics tend to remain the same.
Personal Belongings to Pack First of all, think of all the items and products that you will need for personal use before and right after giving birth.
Make sure that an ID and other personal documents are available.
You will need those to take care of hospital formalities.
You will need some basic cosmetic products that you use on daily basis - toothbrush, toothpaste, body lotion, shower gel, deodorant and others that you prefer.
You will also need sanitary pads but these will be provided by the hospital.
Make sure that you bring comfortable underwear.
Cotton is the best option.
Have slippers and soft socks in your bag, as well.
Some small items could be of need, as well.
Have your eyeglasses or contact lenses packed.
Bring books and magazines to the hospital.
A rubber band and a hairbrush will also make you feel more comfortable.
You will also have need for a nursing bra, a bathrobe, as well as an outfit to go home in.
Get your mobile phone charger - just think about the large number of people who will be willing to call and congratulate you.
Baby Belongings to Pack Apart from the items that you will need to pack for personal use, make sure that you pack all of the things that the newborn member of your family will benefit from.
It may be difficult focusing on the several basic items but try to remain practical and to refrain from packing too much luggage.
Make sure that you pack several baby outfits, a blanket and all other clothing accessories that your dear little one will need.
A car seat is absolutely necessary.
You may have it installed in your family car in advance.
In case you did not have the time to do so, you will need to get the instructions in order to be able to get it into the right position.
Bring a small diaper bag containing several diapers, baby napkins and probably an additional receiving blanket to wrap your baby in.
Select warm clothes and accessories, especially if you are giving birth during the winter.
If this seems like too much stuff to pack, you could prepare two bags.
The first one should contain labor-related items.
Have this one with you as soon as you leave your home to go to the hospital.
Your husband could bring the second bag, containing personal belongings and the accessories for your baby.
