What Are You Doing To Market Yourself and Products?

103 7
I think we are living in some of the best days for anyone wanting to make a go at starting and running a company.
The tools we have at our disposal is out of this world.
The ability to market and do things for virtually no cost is crazy.
Yet we still approach this business as consumers instead of business owners.
The web has opened the door to reach niche buyers directly with target information that cost a fraction of big production costs.
The question then becomes, are you reaching buyers in your niche? Are you giving and meeting their need for information? Are you the one they find verses someone else? Seth Godin refers to the TV industrial complex.
Basically what this means is that big marketing campaigns sit around thinking up ways to interrupt people to promote their product.
You know what Dish Network does? They approached Best Buy and asked if they could partner with their store.
For every sale that is made in their store they will pay Best Buy a portion of the sale.
The reason they did this was so that they could get some of the traffic that Best Buy generates to their store.
So this is how they sell at Best Buy.
They set up a Dish Network table and plant a hired salesperson to man that booth.
But the salesperson is taught how to walk around the store and interrupt shoppers.
They look like employees of dish network but they give the impression that they are there to help you, but in reality their job is to get people to the Dish Network table and make a sale.
It goes something like this.
"Hello, are you finding everything you need?" Interrupt and help.
Then as the salesperson walks away they say, "Oh by the way, who do you use as your cable provider" Wait for answer...
it does not matter what the answer is...
then you say, "Hey come over here and let me show you the deal Dish Network is running" That is interruption marketing at its finest.
But does it work? It works for international companies and companies with name appeal.
Would that work for you? When it comes to niche marketing you need to be where your potential clients are.
You need to be in a place where people looking for information about the things and or products you sell can be found.
Where is it that your niche hangs out.
How are you helping them? Talking to them? Promoting the product you sell? What is your plan? What are you doing day in and day out to talk to people? In the sales world it is said if you talk to a hundred people a day, you will make a sale.
That is like the golden rule.
I am not sure how well that translates over to online marketing but it kind of averages out.
But it could be a great rule to follow, if you are not making a sale for every hundred people who visit your page, then change something.
But the whole point is this What are you doing to get in front of a hundred people? How are you using the web to drive traffic to your product.
You need to be diligent in promoting your product to those who are interested in buying what you have to offer.
There is a successful marketer who enters a new niche every four months.
That means that for four months he does nothing but promote that new niche to people and maintains marketing for the niches he is already in.
His only method of marketing or reaching out to people is through article marketing.
He uses syndication to reach people in the niche.
That's it.
Now he has an audience of over 25,000 editors who receive his articles.
He did not get there overnight, but he had a plan to market to over a hundred people a day.
You can only imagine the amount of money he makes with every new article he sends out.
The Point: You have to make the mental shift of dreaming about success and doing the dirty work of actually being successful.
You need to answer these questions:
  • What are your daily goals?
  • What is your plan?
  • What do you need to do each day to reach those goals?
