People have been fascinated by the craft of archery for thousands of years. Even David was said to have killed Goliath with a bow and arrow. Modern times archery clubs allow individuals who wish to practice archery to learn and develop their skills, either for the fun of the sport or to participate in hunting activities. Michigan has a number of hunting clubs where Michiganders can enjoy archery. - The Detroit Archers operates the oldest archery club in Michigan. The club, located in West Bloomfield Michigan, offers 28 targets of varying shooting positions and distances, a 14-station groomed field course, a bale target range and a 3D 30-target range. The Detroit Archers Leagues give shooters the opportunity to shoot using various types of equipment and at various types of targets. Their 3D League allows shooters to practice shooting at targets from 15 to 33 yards away. The Bush Barebow League allows shooting with any type of arrows. Their Wednesday morning league gives practice to compounders and stickbow shooters. The Detroit Archers Junior League provides an opportunity for young archers to learn the sport of archery through league participation.

detroitarchers.com - Flint Bowmen has both indoor and outdoor ranges and focuses on bowhunting styles and target archery. Their members shoot all types of archery from plain, old-fashioned bows and arrows to high technology shoots. They have youth groups and leagues for shooting, notably their indoor and outdoor target leagues and silhouette leagues that are open to men, women and children. The club area consists of a 30-yard indoor shooting range and a large outdoor shooting range.

flintbowmen.com - Lincoln Bowman's non-profit archery club offers members-only indoors and outdoors shooting ranges. Their leagues and youth groups allow non-members to join shooting activities. Lincoln Bowman expects its members to coach others and teach the craft of archery. They encourage their members to become involved in national and international shoots and tournaments. Their wooded outdoor range includes a field and hunter course, a 3D course and several broadhead ranges. The clubhouse also has an indoor target range.

Michigan Bowhunters also advocates politically for rights of bowhunters in Michigan and concerns itself with educating bowhunters on subjects such as bowhunter history, wildlife conservation, equipment, practice, bowhunter responsibilities, hunting methods, basic first aid and more. Michigan Bowhunters operates branches throughout Michigan, noted by their numbered districts on their website.
