Prior to any athletic activity, sufficient warm up is necessary, as well as proper cool down exercises right after to prepare and relax the body in the proper way. During play, sticking to correct technique can be beneficial. Aside from getting consistent performance and results, it helps in avoiding undue stress to the body.

In cases when athletes already have hip pain, timely intervention is important. Ignoring the pain or leaving it untended can cause more problems. Treatment can begin with conservative measures, and in worst situations, surgical treatment may be necessary.
