How to Install Low Voltage Transformers
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Locate a joist or stud where you intend to mount the low voltage transformer. Attach a metal octagonal box to the side of the joist or stud. Dislodge the knockout plate on the side of the octagonal box.
2
Fish the circuit wire through the side of the box and place it within the box. Use a cable clamp to tighten the box clamp. Use wire strippers to remove both the insulation and sheating from the wires.
3
Bring the transformer's wires into the box through the knockout hole. Attach the low voltage transformer to the octagonal box by tightening the nut provided on the box. Use the wire stripper to remove the insulation from the ends of the transformer wires.
4
Find the transformer's wires by color. Combine each black transformer wire and secure them with wire connectors. Do the same with the white and black circuit wires.
5
Use the wire connectors to join the circuit ground wires and transformer ground wires to the grounding pigtail. Install the opposite end of the grounding pigtail to a screw within the octagonal box.
