Ideas for Fruit Arrangements
- A fruit bouquet makes a stunning arrangement that looks like flowers. You will need a fresh pineapple, green and red seedless grapes and strawberries for the flowers. You will also require a flower-shaped cookie cutter, wooden or bamboo skewers, florist's foam and an attractive container to hold your bouquet. To make it, cut the pineapple fruit into 1-inch wide slices. Then, using the flower cookie cutter, cut each slice into the shape of a flower. Insert a skewer into the center of a pineapple flower, leaving about 1/2 inch of the skewer extended. Finish the flower by placing half of a red grape on the end of the skewer. Do not pierce the grape right through and leave the rounded part of the grape half on the outside. This completes the flower. Make five more pineapple flowers. Cut the green stems from four strawberries and slip the end of a skewer into the stem end of each one to make four strawberry flowers. Then, make four grape flowers by inserting three green grapes onto four skewers. Brush lemon juice over each flower to prevent discoloration. Place the floral foam into the bottom of your container. Make an attractive arrangement with the flowers by sticking them into the foam at various angles. This makes an arrangement of 14 fruit flowers.
- For this fruit arrangement, you will need one-half of a fresh watermelon and various types of fruit, such as pineapple, grapes, strawberries, kiwi fruit, cantaloupe, honeydew melon and oranges. Carve out the watermelon half until the edible part is removed. Cut the various types of fruit into bite-size pieces and place them in a large bowl. Add about one half of the watermelon to the other fruit and mix it up. Finally, place the fruit mixture into the carved watermelon bowl. Place it on an attractive plate with a serving spoon.
- This fruit arrangement requires bamboo skewers, one half of a large honeydew melon, lemon juice, green grapes, seedless red grapes, hulled strawberries, watermelon chunks and pineapple chunks. Place the honeydew melon half in a small, shallow container, with the flat half facing up. The container should be small enough that the melon shows. Make kebabs by inserting pieces of fruit onto the bamboo skewers. As you do this, make sure you alternate types and colors of fruit on the kebabs. Once your kebabs are made, brush them with lemon juice to preserve their color. Stick them into the honeydew half.
- Place a medium-size glass plate with a base on top of a larger one, then place a smaller plate with a base upon the medium one. This will create a tower with three distinct levels. Position small bunches of seedless red grapes so they trail over the edges of the tower. Then place uncommon fruits, such as figs, dragon fruit, star fruit, kiwi fruit and pomegranates, on all of the tiers, making sure the colors are distributed. Add mint leaves for foliage and blueberries to add more color.
