How Can I Slow Down Oil-Burning in a Mower?
- 1). Remove the spark plug from the unit.
- 2). Tilt the mower over to the side, with the oil crankcase under the carburetor.
- 3). Set a drain pan under the oil plug. Unscrew the oil plug with a wrench to release the oil.
- 4). Add SAE 30 oil to the crankcase, or the specific oil suggested in your owner's manual. Fill the tank up to the full line on the dipstick.
- 5). Remove the screw holding the air-filter cover. Remove the air-filter cover. Pull out the paper air filter and discard, then replace with a new one. Wash foam filters in dishwashing soap and water, then air dry before replacing.
