Stamped concrete is a concrete finish technique that uses pre-fabricated molds and stamps them in wet concrete to create the dramatic, realistic effect of stone or even wood. Stamped concrete is suitable for new concrete, or the contractor can apply a surface coat overlay to stamp existing concrete slabs. A stamped concrete patio or indoor floor can be very decorative and stylish and is a more attractive alternative to a plain concrete slab. - The cobblestone pattern of stamped concrete looks like small bricks with slightly rounded corners. The edges are not perfect and many times will look irregular and naturally worn. This pattern will resemble the look of a brick road.
- Sandstone has a rough texture and gives the look of a stone walkway or patio. The edges of the stones are worn, rugged and round.
- The European fan pattern has small, square bricks designed in the shape of a rounded fan. The bricks fan out and all edges of the bricks are irregular. However, the bricks fit nicely together. The brick edges are round and the surface is slightly rough.
- The pine interlocking plank pattern resembles a wood floor. The texture looks like sandblasted pine boards. The ends are saw-cut with a machine that cuts the concrete after it dries to give the long rectangle wood plank look. All the corners are square.
- Fractured earth patterns are for outside patios and walkways most of the time. The surface has a slightly rough texture and no lines, bricks or stones are molded into the pattern.
- Stone rock garden has a smooth surface texture with edges that are round and rugged. This pattern resembles the look of garden stones and the stone can be small or large depending on personal preference.
- The surface of English yorkstone looks like a fractured square stone. All stones are different sizes and irregular, yet all fit together. The edges can be broken or rounded and big or small.
