How to Make Paint Splatter on Sweatpants
- 1). Wash and dry the sweatpants without using any fabric softener.
- 2). Lay a double layer of newspaper on and around your work surface. Crumple additional newspaper and stuff it loosely into the legs on the sweatpants to prevent the paint from bleeding through to the other side. Lay the sweatpants on the newspaper.
- 3). Add fabric paint to a paper cup until it is about 1/4 full. Mix in an equal amount of water with a toothbrush. The diluted paint should be smooth and thin, but not watery.
- 4). Lift the saturated toothbrush from the cup. Hold the brush loosely in one hand with the bristles facing away from you. Hold your other palm flat, with the palm facing you horizontally. Tap the brush against your palm to release the paint in a splatter onto the sweatpants. Repeat until the sweatpants are sufficiently covered.
- 5). Allow the sweatpants to dry overnight, and then flip them over on the newspaper and splatter the other side. Allow the paint to dry for three to four days before wearing to allow the paint to set. If heat setting is required, iron or machine dry the sweatpants as directed.
