Whether it is or not, you still need to somehow quell those annoying itches.
A few tips in that regard follow:
- Consider putting a block of ice on the itching part of your body.
Cold temperature numbs your nerves and dampens the feeling.
You can also do that through a cold shower or a bath, if the itches are spread on multiple areas.
Note that, the use of hot water does not equate to a similar effect, as it can leave you feeling even more itchy than before. - Contrary to popular belief, scratching does not help an itch.
In fact, it may even worsen it.
Although it can satisfy you momentarily, it can make the skin raw; which can make you feel itchier.
It can also rip open the skin, making it vulnerable to infection.
So, don't scratch.
What may help you to relieve some of your itching is applying some moisturizer.
They moisturize raw, dry skin and may remove some of the tickling bothering you.
There are many commercial anti-itch creams available in the market, just for that purpose.
You can also use Aloe Vera, or some petroleum jelly to achieve the same effect. - Increase your intake of vitamins.
Vitamins protect the skin from free radicals and prevent the skin from becoming dry.
So, just like above, eating vitamin rich foods can help in relieving the dry-skin itches on your body. - Adopt some sound hygiene practices.
Shower often.
A lot of times why our skin itches is due to all the dirt and germs we accumulate on our bodies.
Failing to clean it may produce a rash, resulting in even more itching.
So, it may help you if you shower and wash often. - Now, all the things listed above should not be taken as a cure of the itches.
Only a doctor can provide that.
These are just some self-help tips and should be taken as such.
If you have a really bad case of chronic itching on your body, don't just rely on home remedies.
Get yourself checked out by a doctor.
Itching can be a symptom of a major illness.
