    • 1). Slide a flat knife, nail file or other thin metal object in the crevice on the top edge of the Touch between the front casing and the metal cover on the back. Pry this metal cover off gently; you may need to slide the knife across the top in the crevice to create more of an opening first. Place the metal cover aside.

    • 2). Turn the Touch over to see the inside. Place the knife beneath the white battery in the center of the Touch and pry it out carefully.

    • 3). Remove the screws along the bottom of the Touch with your Phillips screwdriver, then remove the screws at the base where the wires from the battery were connected. Place the screws aside, then remove the small cover the screws held in place.

    • 4). Lift the plastic tabs on the top corners of the Touch. Unscrew the screws on either side of these tabs and set them aside. Unscrew the screws along the sides of the Touch with the device facing down on a flat surface and set them aside. The screen is now released from the Touch; remove it carefully.
