    Download a Streaming Audio App

    • Surf the Internet for free applications that will allow you to listen to web-based radio stations. A very popular website for listening to music is Pandora.com, which allows users to create a personalized radio station based on their favorite songs and bands. Owners of the iPhone or iPod Touch can download the Pandora App from the Apple App Store and install it on their device to allow streaming audio of their personalized radio station. LastFM.com also has a similar App with additional functionality available for download. Another handy App is provided by SimplifyMedia.com and allows users to stream their personal collection of music on their home computer to their iPhone or iPod Touch. Each of these gives a listening experience similar to that of listening to a radio.

    Buy an iPod Radio Attachment

    • Purchase an add-on attachment for your iPod Classic, iPhone or iPod Touch to allow for listening of local radio stations. The Griffin Navigate Inline Controller and FM Radio allows users of the iPhone and iPod Touch to remotely control their device, navigate playlists and listen to FM stereo radio with four station presets. Owners of the iPod Classic or earlier versions such as the third- or fourth-generation iPod can use an add-on device such as the Eforcity FM Radio Remote, which allows for remote control and FM radio access. Another similar item is the Apple Radio Remote for iPod.

Buy an iPod Nano or Microsoft Zune

    • Research a new iPod Nano or Microsoft Zune for built-in FM radio capability on a digital media player. The latest generation of iPod Nano allows users to listen to live broadcasts of local FM radio stations, plus music can be tagged, paused and rewound. The iPod Nano comes in 8G and 16G capacities. For a larger digital music capacity and FM radio functionality, users may want to jump Apple's ship and pilot Microsoft's Zune. The Zune is available in capacities of 4G, 8G, 16G, 80G and 120G, and all models have a built-in FM radio tuner. Fans of HD radio can listen to local HD radio stations using the Zune HD16 and HD32 models.
