When trying to get your Guard Card in California, you should begin by searching for security training academies which are located throughout the entire state.
In order to cut down on expenses in visiting or having to personally call these academies, simply contact the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, which is a part of the Department of Consumer Affairs, for information.
When making your application you will need to fill out the following forms: Application for Security Guard or Patrol Person, along with three copies of the Security Guard Live Scan form.
These forms should then be sent to various security guard companies which have confirmed that they administer Guard Card tests.
Once you decide on the right company to work with, pay and prepare for the test.
The Guard Card test is not a difficult one and mainly involves common sense scenarios such as differentiating between different things.
In order to pass the test, you will need to attain a perfect score of 100%.
Thereafter, you will need to complete eight hours of training on Powers to Arrest, also referred to as P.
C.

You should then contact your local Live Scan Operator through your local County Sheriff's Office.
Fill out the necessary forms, provide your finger prints and make the necessary payments which range from $30-80.
If you do not have a record, it may take you anywhere between a couple of days to six months to obtain your Guard Card.
Once you are approved, you will be able to have your approval printed out which you will need to have on you at all times while on duty.
