How do I Troubleshoot an Elkay Water Cooler?
- 1). Check that the water cooler is securely plugged into the wall socket if the water is warm and the compressor is not running. Check the home electrical panel for any blown fuses or tripped breakers. Replace fuses with others of the same amperage and reset breakers as necessary.
- 2). Adjust the cold control 1/4 turn clockwise if the water is too warm and the compressor is running. Clean any dirt off the condenser. Turn the cold control 1/4 turn counter-clockwise if the water is too cold.
- 3). Replace the water filter if there is a strange taste or odor to the water. Try running the water until the odor has gone. Check to see if the water line has a non-metallic strainer installed.
- 4). Turn off the water supply and clean out the screen in the strainer if there is no flow or very little flow. Check the owner's manual for the location of the inlet water strainer. It could also be that the tank has frozen if there is little or no water flow. Adjust the the cold control 1/4 turn counter-clockwise for this potential problem.
- 5). Adjust the regulator counter-clockwise if the water stream is too high. Turn the regulator clockwise if the water stream is too low. Check the owner's manual for the location of the regulator.
- 6). Adjust the front push bar if the water seeps slowly out of the fountain. Try readjusting the cold control 1/4 turn counter-clockwise for this problem as well.
- 7). Check the refrigerant lines inside the unit if the water cooler is vibrating. Make sure the lines are secure. Check that the compressor is secure in it's mountings. Tighten or loosen as necessary. If there is a noise coming from inside the compressor, it may be time to replace it.
