How to Troubleshoot the Volume Lock on an iPod
- 1). Check your iPod to see if the volume limit is set. To do this, select the "Settings" option on your iPod and select "Music." Select "Volume Limit." and adjust the setting.
- 2). Try increasing the volume. Make sure the player is not set on pause. If the problem persists, try resetting the iPod. To do this, slide the hold switch to off position.
- 3). Press and hold the "Menu" and "Center" button simultaneously for about 6 to 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. If that resolves the problem, continue with normal use. If all else fails, move to the next step to restore the iPod to its factory default settings.
- 4). Connect the iPod to your computer using the supplied USB cable and launch iTunes.
- 5). Click your iPod's icon on the left panel of the iTunes program and click the "Summary" tab.
- 6). Click the "Restore" button. You will be prompted with one or more options to restore your iPod. To restore the iPod with the latest updates, select option 4.
- 7). Follow the guided prompts to restore the iPod. Use the restore option as a final resort because it erases all saved data on your iPod.
