How to Reopen a Baquacil Pool

    • 1). Remove any standing water and debris from the pool cover.

    • 2). Remove the pool cover, clean, dry and store it folded out of the sun.

    • 3). Inspect the pool for leaks or other damage. Specifically look for cracks in tiles or plaster and tears in vinyl liners.

    • 4). Add enough water to bring the level halfway up on the skimmer opening.

    • 5). Use the leaf net to remove any debris from the pool.

    • 6). Check for proper operation of the pump, skimmer and filter.

    • 7). Use the Baquacil D.E. (diatomaceous earth) and cartridge filter cleaner, or Baquacil sand filter cleaner, to remove any deposits from the filter if it was not cleaned at the end of the last season. The choice of filter cleaner depends on the kind of filter used for the pool.

    • 8). With the pump running brush and vacuum the pool completely.

    • 9). Keep the pump running for at least five hours then collect a sample of pool water in a clean plastic bottle. Take the sample to your local Baquacil dealer for an analysis of the water chemistry.

      Plaster pools will need a full dose of Baquacil metal control. Allow the pool to run for eight hours after adding this.

      Adjust the Baquacil sanitizer and algicide to 50 ppm. Pools that have a spa attached or other water feature should use Baquacil performance algicide instead of Baquacil algicide.

      Give the pool a maintenance dose of Baquacil oxidizer
