How to Use Acetone to Remove Stickers
- 1). Wipe dirt or dust from the sticker with a clean rag. Pry the sticker edges up with your fingernail or a plastic scraper.
- 2). Pour acetone over the sticker label, saturating the surface. Take the item outside, if possible, or work in a well-ventilated area to keep from breathing toxic acetone fumes.
- 3). Position a plastic scraper at the edge of the sticker. Hold up one end of the sticker and slide the scraper slowly under the label. Pull the sticker up and away from the item as you scrape it away.
- 4). Pour an additional 1 to 2 tbsp. of acetone on any sticker residue left on the item. Rub the residue vigorously with an old rag, removing it completely.
- 5). Wash the item with liquid dish soap and water, removing the acetone. Rinse the item with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.
