How to Decorate Using White Furniture & Stained Wood
- 1). Place white furniture throughout the room. If possible, opt for the same shade of white with all the pieces, and avoid extremely bright white furniture that can make darker shades of white look dingy. Keep each piece of furniture the same shade of white for a put-together look.
- 2). Opt for stained wooden coffee tables, nightstands, end tables and dressers. Variety in the shades of wood stain is fine. Place your wooden furniture throughout the room, and take care to place your stained wood items between the white items to add diversity and complexity to the space.
- 3). Hang framed photographs on the wall. If your walls are white, it's fine to have colorful photographs as long as they're in stained wooden frames to keep with the theme. If your walls are colorful, however, opt for white-themed photos to offset the dramatic color of the room.
- 4). Place white books, lamps, picture frames and flower vases on your stained wood furniture. The whiteness of the items will contrast with the stain of the furniture and keep in tune with your white theme. Don't overload your furniture with white items, however. One or two items per piece will work. Fewer decorative items will also make your room seem pristine and well-executed.
