How to Translate Languages on an iPhone
- 1). First, because iTranslate - Ultimate connects to the Internet, you've got to have some sort of data connection for it to work--so make sure you are connected via Edge, 3G or WI-FI.
- 2
Download iTranslate - Ultimate(Lite) from the Apple App Store (see link in Resources below).
iTranslate - Ultimate(Lite) is free at the time of this writing. There are a couple of other apps called iTranslate, but the one I'm writing about is the one by Bizmosis. There is a paid version that is $0.99, but other than the presence of an advertisement, there is no apparent difference in functionality. - 3
Enter your email address when the application asks for it. This is supposedly for the purpose of being able to send emails from the app, and unfortunately, it won't let you pass without one. If you don't intend to send emails, just enter something into the field and hit Save. - 4
Hit the "+" sign in the upper right to start a new translation when you see the page labeled "Translated Phrases." - 5
Select a "From" and "To" language for the translation on the "New Translation" page. Tap on the From or To language fields to go to a list of languages. - 6
Choose your languages and you'll be taken back to the "New Translation" page. In the list of languages, iTranslate - Ultimate gives you five languages to choose from: Spanish, German, French, Italian and English. - 7
Tap the "Phrase" field and a keyboard will appear. Tap in the phrase you want to translate. When you're done hit "Save." - 8
Tap "Translate" in the upper right-hand corner to begin your translation. - 9
Now iTranslate - Ultimate will connect to the Internet and get the translation. Once it's done you will see your original phrase and the translated phrase. You can also click "Touch To Play" and it will speak the phrase back to you in the desired language.
