How to Get Smaller Curls

  • 1). Braid your hair when damp in small, tight braids. Use multiple braids around your head and sleep on them. When you wake up and the braids are completely dry, take the braids out to reveal tiny curls.

  • 2). Divide your hair into multiple sections. Twirl the hair and clip into multiple buns around your head while the hair is damp. To get a wavy curl you need to make a single bun with wet hair on top of your head, and the same concept is used for small curls. Instead, use multiple buns that will pull the curls tighter. The less hair you use in the bun, the smaller the curl will be. Release the buns when your hair is completely dry. Drying time will vary based on the thickness of your hair. The best time to do this is while sleeping overnight; otherwise, prepare for at least an hour drying time.

  • 3). Purchase a crimper and use the small curl setting. Crimp you hair by sections so the hair appears tight and curly. Use hairspray to hold the look all day. The curl will wash out if necessary.
