    • 1). Donate your costume to a charity or a thrift store such as Goodwill or The Salvation Army. Local theater groups, high school drama clubs, dance studios and church groups will also gladly accept your gently used costume items.

    • 2). Sell your costume at a garage sale, swap meet or through a website like eBay or Craigslist.

    • 3). Exchange costumes with friends and relatives. Arrange a swap night and have everyone bring any old costume items they no longer want.

    • 4). Wear the costume at another event. For example, a fairy Halloween costume could also be appropriate at a renaissance festival or a fantasy convention.

    • 5). Alter costume items to fit other costumes. For example, add zombie makeup to an old doctor's costume to dress like a zombie doctor.

    • 6). Decorate your home for Halloween using old Halloween costumes. Stuff old costumes with newspaper to create a spooky lawn decoration or hang up old masks inside your house and illuminate them with a black light. Put old Halloween gloves and shoes on your lawn in front of fake gravestones to create the illusion of zombies coming out of their graves.

    • 7). Cut up costumes and strip them down to their raw materials to use for other crafting projects. For example, an old polyester cape can be sewn into a pillow or purse. Fur from an animal or monster costume makes for a unique trim for hats, scarves and gloves. Carefully remove strips of sequence or other decorative piping to apply to other clothing items.
