How to Clear Grass Between Sidewalk Pavers
- 1). Remove existing grass between pavers by hand or using a small spade gardening shovel. Carefully remove the entire grass plant, including the roots.
- 2). Rake around the pavers and in the paver gaps to ensure all organic debris is removed.
- 3). Tightly pack clean gravel in between the pavers using a small spade gardening shovel. Leave the gravel 1/4-inch from the top of the pavers. Gravel provides soil conditions unfavorable for the growth of grass.
- 4). Add 1/4-inch of small crushed rock over the gravel using a shovel. Tightly pack the rocks with the shovel, ensuring the rocks remain below the top of the pavers. Rocks take up space otherwise potentially occupied by organic debris.
- 5). Sweep the paver surface regularly using a broom to keep dirt and organic debris from accumulating.
