How to Install an Undermount Kohler Sink
- 1). Make a template using the paper pattern provided with the sink, tracing it onto a piece of 1/4-inch hardboard. Remove the pattern and cut out the opening, taking care to stay on the waste side of the cut. Then go back and sand to the line with a drum sander.
- 2). Place the template on the vanity top where you would like the sink to be placed, and trace around the perimeter.
- 3). Remove the template, and cut out the majority of the material inside the opening with a saber saw, being sure to stay inside the line.
- 4). Place the template back onto the counter top, and clamp it in place so that it's aligned with the line previously marked. Fit a router with a pattern-maker's bit, and route the finished edge.
- 5). Install the mounting hardware on the underside of the counter top in the locations described by the sink manufacturer. Be careful during installation not to drill all the way through the counter top.
- 6). Apply the recommended sealant to the perimeter of the opening in order to create a watertight seal between the sink and the counter top.
- 7). Set the sink in place so that it's centered on the opening. Secure the sink with the rim clamps provided by the manufacturer.
