How to Disable Virtual Memory in XP
- 1). Press "Start" and then click on "Run." Enter "sysdm.cpl" into the "Open" box and select "OK."
- 2). Choose the "Advanced" tab. Select "Settings" from under the "Performance" heading.
- 3). Select the "Advanced" tab once again. Then press "Change" under the "Virtual Memory" heading.
- 4). Click the drive that you want to disable virtual memory on from under the "Drive [Volume Label]" header. Choose "Custom size" under "Paging file size for selected drive." Set the "Initial size (MB)" and "Maximum size (MB)" boxes to 0.
- 5). Click "OK" to close the interface and save the changes to the virtual memory settings.
