There is nothing so exhilarating as being a successful Internet marketer.
The satisfaction that comes from delivering value, providing outstanding customer service and creating great products is second to none.
So, how to start? From all sides comes the answer: build your list! But, where to start doing that? Here are some proven tips to build your list and becoming successful through forum marketing.
First, find a forum related to your product which you enjoy.
If you do not know where to look, go to Google and enter "forum + pets" (for example) You don't have to include the apostrophes.
Get to know the forum; create your profile and edit your signature file (often this is referred to as your resource box.
) Be careful to check any forum rules regarding use of HTML there.
Make sure that your signature files stands out.
Get a friend to look at it (preferably someone who doesn't know about your product.
) Does it encourage people to click on your link, or paste the web address into their browser? Are you upbeat? Are credible? Are you able to offer something of value? Start posting, and contributing to threads.
Give some thought to posting positive sounding comments - it's a fact that people are attracted to upbeat types! Some forums are pretty rowdy and threads can become a free-for-all.
Try not to get sucked into violent disagreements; remember, your contributions - while making sure they are valuable - are aimed solely at getting your profile in front of as many people as possible.
I have found, too, that forum marketing can be great fun - you get to know a lot of people who are interested in the same topic or niche as yourself and you realize that you know more than you think! People really value advice and encouragement, too.
Often you will read posts that are heartfelt cries to a solution to a problem - "How do I do this, or that, or the other?" and you're able to help.
One piece of advice that is worth bearing in mind - be careful not to pad out your posts by simply saying, "I agree" or "Right on" etc.
Sprinkle your posts with appreciative comments, but don't get a reputation for being an air-head.
Be warned of one thing, however: building your list through forum marketing can become addictive.
Has someone answered my post? Is there a reply to my email? Who is online? Remember - this is a marketing activity; don't mistake forum marketing for social networking! Once I have identified three or four forums that relate to a product that I am interested in marketing I spend a day or to 'lurking' - that is, following threads and posts before I participate actively.
Then I might spend 20 - 25 minutes each day, at different times, logging on and contributing.
So, how long before you begin to get results? Well, if your posts are informative, and come from a place of knowledge, you'll be able to check your web stats and see exactly where your visitors are coming from.
I have found that results can be immediate.
Forum marketing works, and it isn't hard to become an expert! Good luck - and, my best to you.
