How to Make a CD for Public Art Applications
- 1). Prepare your images in a photo editing program. Follow the guidelines on the public art application that specify the image dimensions and maximum size. If none are specified, keep the images under one megabyte in size. This allows a good, clear image that will not gum up the memory of the reviewer.
- 2). Name your files according to the application criteria. Usually, this will mean your last and first name separated by an underscore, followed by the number of the slide (for example, Smith_Jane_01). Use this system if no other criteria are specified. Use the two-digit format for numbering if you have more than nine images; this ensures that when the reviewer opens the CD, she will see the images in the order you want to show them.
- 3). Create a folder on your computer with all your images inside it to facilitate burning the CD. If the application asks for other documents such as resumes to be included on the CD, put those in the folder as well.
- 4). Burn the folder you have created to the CD using the CD burning software of your operating system.
- 5). Write your name and contact information on the burned CD with an indelible marker in case it is separated from the rest of your application.
