    • 1). Wash the Xbox 360 controller with a rag dampened with water and soap. Gently massage the controller in a circular motion.

    • 2). Rinse the 360 controller with a damp rag. Don't oversaturate the rag, or you could flood the controller's interior with water. Dry the Xbox controller with a towel.

    • 3). Abrade the plastic controller to promote better adhesion. Sand every part of the Xbox controller you plan to paint until it feels coarse.

    • 4). Cover the buttons, cord, knobs and control pad, using nothing other than professional painter's tape. Cut the tape into tiny pieces to make it conform to each surface. Set the controller on a drop cloth.

    • 5). Coat the controller with acrylic spray primer. Do not soak the controller with primer; instead, apply a thin layer of primer in brief spurts. Maintain eight inches between the controller unit and spray tip. Let the controller dry for two hours.

    • 6). Coat the controller with acrylic spray enamel. Apply a thin layer of enamel in brief spurts. Maintain eight inches between the controller unit and spray tip. Remove the tape after ten minutes. Let the controller dry for two hours.
