How to Return the Total of the Top Highest in Excel

    • 1). Enter your data into Excel. You can enter it any way you want, but you should group the data closely together because you will need to highlight all your data.

    • 2). Click on the cell for which you want the highest number to display.

    • 3). Type "=MAX(."

    • 4). Click the data in the cell that's in the upper leftmost part of the spreadsheet.

    • 5). Hold "Shift" on your keyboard and using the arrow keys, highlight each cell with data on your spreadsheet. Release "Shift."

    • 6). Type ")" and press "Enter" on your keyboard. The cell will now display the largest number in your data.
