How to Fix a Too Low Minimum Virtual Memory
- 1). Unplug the computer to reduce the risk of electric shock, then remove the side panel of the computer. Look up in your computer's owners manual the type of RAM memory your computer uses and the possible capacity configurations.
- 2). Remove the current RAM. The RAM is aligned vertically on the motherboard to the right of the fan/heatsink unit. Push the clips away and down from the RAM to unclip it. If there is an open slot next to the RAM that is already installed, it may not be necessary to remove the current RAM unless it is being upgraded.
- 3). Touch a piece of metal to discharge static shock, then insert the new RAM into the memory slot by pushing on the top and bottom of the RAM simultaneously. Push the clips in towards the RAM to secure them.
- 4). Close the side panel and plug the computer back in.
