Sydney White DVD Review

The Bottom Line
You know what I like about Sydney White? The fact it's smartly written and takes every opportunity available to play off of its source material (Snow White). From 'Hi Hos' to the poison apple, Sydney White is an intelligent, twisted take on the classic fairy tale. Plus, Amanda Bynes is perfect in this type of fun, uplifting comedy.

The Story
Sydney (Bynes) is off to college and boy is she excited. She'll be attending the same school and pledging the same sorority as her deceased mom, and although it means leaving her single dad behind, she's ready for the adventure.
However poor Sydney discovers that sorority girls can be a petty group. She quickly butts heads with the queen bee of the group, Rachel Witchburn (Sara Paxton), and is banished from the sorority. Taking up with seven dorks, Sydney fights back by organizing the group and taking on the 'cool' kids.
The Bonus Features
The Sydney White DVD includes the usual batch of deleted scenes as well as a very G-rated gag reel. Where it exceeds most DVDs is in the behind-the-scenes featurette territory.
The DVD extras provide a healthy collection of cast interviews with details on the physical set, the story, and how the cast bonded on the set. Although it's all pretty much just fluff, the bonus features are totally in keeping with the tone of the film.
