    • 1). Access "System Properties" by opening the Control Panel and double-clicking the "System" button. You can also open the Start menu, click "Run" and type "sysdm.cpl" in the Run form to open "System Properties."

    • 2). Click the "Automatic Updates" tab to view your updates settings.

    • 3). Check the box next to "Turn off Automatic Updates" and click "OK." The updates messages in XP will be hidden.
